Romanian Constitutional Court Clears Social Dialog Code, Law Capping Teachers’ Wages

The Romanian Constitutional Court on Wednesday ruled the Social Dialog Code and the law capping teachers’ salaries in 2011 are constitutional.

On April 18, the Government sought a vote of confidence in Parliament to pass the two bills into legislation.

The opposition did not submit a no-confidence motion against the Government, but challenged the laws at the Constitutional Court.

The claim was signed by 110 deputies of the Social Democratic and Liberal parties.
