Romanian Govt To Implement Decentralization Through Decree, Unless Senate Adopts Education Bill - PM

Romania’s Government will use an emergency ordinance to carry out the decentralization of the public education system if the Senate fails to approve this law, Prime Minister Emil Boc said Wednesday.

"I will not hesitate to put forward an emergency ordinance implementing decentralization. We cannot postpone the reform process," said Boc.

In a letter to Senate Chairman Mircea Geoana, President Traian Basescu requested the chamber adopt the Law on education in the parliamentary session which ended on June 30.

The draft law on national education has already been adopted by the Chamber of Deputies.
