Romanian Leftist Opposition Party Branch Leader Ioan Rus Resigns

The president of the northwestern Romanian city Cluj branch of leftist opposition party PSD, Ioan Rus, resigned Monday.

According to a press release issued by PSD Cluj, which does not indicate the reasons for the resignation, he stated, within the PSD Cluj County Standing Office Meeting that he will continue to function as vice-president of PSD for the North-West region, in order to attempt better coordination of party activities on a regional level.

Member of Parliament Vasile Soporan will act as interim president of the branch pending the conference for the election of the new PSD Cluj president.
