Romanian Leu Closes Slightly Up Vs Euro In Quiet Mkt

Romania’s leu gained slightly against the euro in late trade Tuesday and closed a tad stronger on the day at 4.094/4.096 to the European currency, amid low volumes.

Friday, the leu closed at 4.1/4.1025 per euro.

The leu opened flat versus euro in the first trading day after Easter and afterward started to gain ground, mirroring the currencies in the region.

The central bank set the leu's indicative at 4.0967 per euro, 0.16% stronger on the day.

On the money market Tuesday, overnight rates were slightly down at 2.6%-3.1% a year.
