Romanian liberal presidential candidate Crin Antonescu said Saturday he rejects any political alliance with President Traian Basescu and the Democratic Liberal Party, adding he wants to eliminate speculations made on this topic.

"I want to make it clear that I reject any political alliance with Traian Basescu and the Democratic Liberal Party as long as it is led by Basescu, either as head of state or as leader of democrat liberals," Antonescu told a news conference Saturday.

Antonescu said he wants to eliminate any speculation regarding a possible alliance between liberals and democrat liberals.
