Romanian Liberals Decide To Hold Local Polls May 25 - Sources

Leaders of Romania’s ruling Liberal Party, or PNL, decided in a meeting Monday to hold the first round of local elections on May 25, people close to the matter said.

They added liberals agreed upon this date, and the final decision is to be announced by the government.

Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Wednesday that local elections will most likely be held late May and early June, and the exact date is to be set this week.

Democrat liberals proposed that local elections should be held on May 25 and June 8 and all other parties agreed to the dates in principle.
