"Elections for a new parliament will entail a new government, and our objective is, without a doubt, winning parliament elections. I think that after four years of governing, we have a great chance to stay here and I want us to set more ambitious goals,” Tariceanu said at the beginning of the party’s standing delegation meeting.

He said that if the future government is formed of liberals, it will have to think big and make Romania the seventh most powerful country in the European Union.

"Romania is the seventh largest country in the European Union in terms of demographics and surface. I don’t think it would be too much to try and make Romania the seventh most powerful country in the EU as well,” he said.

Tariceanu also listed seven priorities a potential future liberal government would consider, adding Romania has a great potential for economic growth.

To support economic growth, Tariceanu said a trop priority would be investing in infrastructure and said a future liberal government would assign 6% of gross domestic product for this sector.

Next on the priorities’ list are education, consolidating the rule of law, fighting corruption, pensioners, Romania’s visibility in Europe and worldwide and environmental protection.
