Romania’s defense minister Teodor Melescanu said Tuesday Romanian troops will not be pulled out of Kosovo, as the mission is a humanitarian one and aims to ensure security for civilians under a United Nations mandate.

He said Romania has 126 troops in Kosovo, under the Resolution 1244 of the Security Council, "adopted with the agreement of Serbia".
 
Asked whether Romania should pull its troops from Kosovo after the breakaway province declared its independence, Melescanu said: "We will follow orders". He added the question asks for an opinion he has no liberty to express as defense minister.
