Romanian Parliament Committees Endorse Proposed Agriculture Minister

Romania’s Parliament committees for agriculture and public administration Tuesday endorsed proposed Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Mihail Dumitru with 58 votes in favor, while 22 other lawmakers abstained.

Dumitru, an independent, is an expert on agriculture issues with the European Commission. Romania's European Commissioner-designate for Agriculture and Rural Development Dacian Ciolos hailed Dumitru's nomination for agriculture minister as "a wise decision".

Prime Minister-designate Emil Boc will seek Wednesday a confidence vote for a Cabinet of 15 ministers and a deputy prime minister.
