Romanian Parliament Education Committee Adopts Education Bill

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies education committee Friday adopted the country’s new education bill with 16 to ten votes and five abstentions.

Opposition deputies voted against the bill.

The education committee president, social democrat Cristian Dumitrescu, said the committee will draw up a report on the education bill, which might be forwarded Monday to the Chamber of Deputies' Standing Office.

The draft education law will be debated in a plenary meeting in the Chamber of Deputies and then will be sent for debates to the Senate.
