Romanian Parliament Finance Committees OK Environment Min’s 2012 Budget

The Romanian Parliament’s committees for budget and finance on Wednesday approved with 21 to 11 votes and one abstention the Environment Ministry’s 2012 budget, of 2.994 billion lei (EUR688 million).

State Secretary Cristian Apostol said the institution's budget for next year is 31% higher than that for 2011.

During debates, opposition lawmakers demanded that the sum allotted to the ministry should be cut by RON2 million. They also proposed that this sum should be directed to the Interior Ministry.

The two propositions were rejected.
