Romanian PM Resigns From Mayor Position

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc resigned Sunday from the position of mayor of the country’s northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca, one day before the expiry of the term provided by law.

According to a press release of the local mayoralty, Boc resigned as, according to the law regulating local public administration, the position of prime minister and mayor are incompatible.

The law required Boc to resign from the position of mayor within 15 days of being sworn in as prime minister.
