Romanian President Denies Barbulescu High Court Of Justice Leadership

The Romanian Presidency notified the High Court of Justice (ICCJ) that the High Council of Magistrates’ nominee, Lidia Barbulescu, was denied leadership of the Court.

According to a press release posted on the Court's website, the Presidency issued the decision on December 22, 2009, and new candidacies can be submitted within 30 days, namely until January 22, 2010.

Candidates must have at least two years of experience within the Romanian High Court of Justice.

Contacted by MEDIAFAX, Barbulescu declined to comment, saying she will issue statements after she sees the explanatory note for the rejection.
