Romanian President Passes Law On Single-Round Mayor Elections

Romanian President Traian Basescu announced Wednesday he signed into law the bill on single-round mayor elections, supported by every party, including the opposition.

The bill was adopted late May by the Chamber of Deputies, after being rejected by the Senate.

It states mayors will be elected in a single-round of voting, unless none of the candidates receives the majority of votes.
