Romanian President To Announce New Foreign Intelligence Head Monday

Romanian President Traian Basescu on Thursday said the new president of the Foreign Intelligence Agency, or SIE, will be announced on Monday.

“All I can say is that I know his name. I will make the public announcement on Monday. Right now, I cannot give you his name,” Basescu said during a meeting with the students at the Sociology Faculty in Bucharest.

Rumor has it former foreign minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu might replace Claudiu Saftoiu as SIE head. Saftoiu resigned in March.
