Romanian Ruling Democrat Liberals Back Constitution Revision To Ratify Fiscal Union Pact

The Romanian Democratic Liberal Party, part of the ruling coalition, backs Romania’s accession to the fiscal union pact agreed upon by EU leaders last week, party leader Emil Boc said Wednesday.

Speaking after a meeting with President Traian Basescu, Boc said democrat liberals also agree that the Constitution must be revised to transpose the fiscal pact and set up a single-chamber Parliament with 300 lawmakers.

Basescu met with ruling coalition leaders and the representatives of the Opposition at the Presidential Palace Wednesday.
