Romanian Senate OKs Prosecution Of Social Democrat Senator Serban Mihailescu

Romanian senators approved Wednesday, 77 to 29 votes and two votes annulled, the start of a criminal probe targeting social democrat senator Serban Mihailescu.

Senate chairman Mircea Geoana said in the plenary meeting that out of 108 senators present, 77 were in favor of prosecution, 29 were against and two votes were annulled.

Mihailescu is investigated in a corruption file and is charged with bribe taking and the breaching of laws regulating the possession and use of weapons and ammunition.
