Romanian Senate Passes Bill Granting Farmers’ Associations RON17,000 Scrap Bonuses For Tractors
Romania’s Senate adopted Wednesday a legal initiative whereby people who form and association and wish to scrap their old tractors to buy new ones can get a scrap bonus of 17,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2249) each.

The cumulated value of bonuses may not exceed 50% of the value of the acquisition.
The measure aims to encourage farmers to form associations and work larger surfaces of land to boost the country's agriculture sector. Romanian agriculture is currently very fragmented and includes a large proportion of subsistence farms.
The bill, which senators adopted 58 to two votes and one abstention, is pending debates in the Chamber of Deputies.
