Romanian Senators Reject Simple Motion On Defense

Romanian senators rejected, with 73 “cons” and 33 “pros,” the simple motion on defense initiated by the opposition Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian minority party (UDMR), which urges the resignation of defense minister Mihai Stanisoara.

During debates, democrat liberal and social democrat lawmakers said they would vote down the motion, while Stanisoara said liberals’ actions are only a means of conveying their electoral message.

Stanisoara stressed the accusations made by liberal and Hungarian senators only prove the political duplicity of certain parties which ruled the country for four year.
