Romanian Social Democrat Dan Iosif Dies At 57

Romanian Deputy Dan Iosif, 57, member of leftist opposition Social Democratic Party, or PSD, died Wednesday morning after struggling for several years with lung cancer.

Iosif, father of two, actively participated in the Romanian Revolution of December 1989. He was member in the first political structures set up after the fall of the communist regime.

Between 1992 and 1996, Iosif was adviser to former president Ion Iliescu.

Iosif was awarded the Loyal Service Order, Knight Rank.
