The executive committee of Romania’s Social Democratic Party adopted Monday unanimously the party’s standing office proposition to nominate party vice-president Liviu Dragnea for the position of interior minster, sources within the party told MEDIAFAX.

They said the executive committee voted unanimously to have Dragnea take over as interior minster, after Gabriel Oprea resigned last week.

Oprea resigned his minister position and left the party altogether after party leaders withdrew his political support, for having made appointments in key positions at the ministry without consulting party leaders.
