Romanian Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

One Romanian soldier was killed and four others injured Sunday in Afghanistan, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defense in Bucharest.

The soldiers of the “Dragoslavele” Battalion were patrolling motorway A1 Qalat – Kabul, some 20 kilometers out of Qalat. The third armored amphibious transporter ran over a makeshift explosive device.

Following the explosion, sergeant major Dragos Traian Alexandrescu was killed. The officer was married, he had two children and he has been an employee of the Ministry of Defense since 2003.
