Romanian Teens Under 15 Allowed To Terminate 6-Mo Pregnancies - Draft Act

Romanian teens under 15 years old might be allowed to terminate pregnancies, provided the procedures are carried out in special level 3 hospitals and the pregnancy does not exceed 24 weeks, the Health Ministry said in a draft order subject to public debate.

Any pregnancy occurring before the age of 15 is seen as very risky and should be closely monitored by OB-Gyn specialists, the draft order mentioned.

The act follows a recent case involving an 11-year-old Romanian girl. The girl, victim of a rape, had to have the abortion at Saint King’s hospital in London.
