Romanian Tennis Player Sorana Carstea Defeated In Roland Garros Quarterfinals

Romanian tennis player Sorana Carstea was eliminated Wednesday from the quarterfinals of the Roland Garros, after she was defeated 6-1, 6-3 by Australia’s Samantha Stosur.

For Carstea, however, playing in the Roland Garros quarterfinals is the biggest result in her sports career so far and she will cash a cheque for EUR132,500.

The last Romanian tennis player to make it in the Roland Garros quarterfinals was Ruxandra Dragomir, who is currently the president of the Romanian Tennis Federation. Dragomir was defeated in the quarterfinals in 1997 by Croatia’s Iva Majoli.
