Leaving the prosecutors’ office, Orban said a complaint was submitted against him by the National Union of Handicraft and Production Cooperatives in Romania, or UCECOM, regarding two conventions signed in 2004, when Orban was the deputy mayor of Bucharest. Under those conventions, a cooperative received a commercial space.
“The complaint was filed by a cooperative that felt persecuted after another cooperative gained the legal right of possessing the respective commercial space,” Orban said.
He added the convention leasing the space observed the laws at that time.
The minister’s lawyer said Orban is accused of forgery and abuse of office in the complaint and prosecutors haven’t started a probe on the minister.
