Romanian Transport Min Wants New Airport Built In Alexeni, Ialomita County

Romanian Transport Minister-designate Radu Berceanu wants to build a new airport for low-cost flights near Bucharest in the commune of Alexeni, Ialomita county, not in Adunatii Copaceni, Giurgiu county, a location proposed by former Transport Minister Ludovic Orban.

Berceanu said the Government could use the track that already exists in Alexeni and lease it to private companies.

Berceanu was endorsed for transport minister by parliamentary committees Tuesday. The Parliament holds a confidence vote Wednesday on the proposed government of Prime Minister-designate Emil Boc.
