Romanian Transport Ministry To Sack 20% Of Employees

Romanian Transport Ministry will lay off over 20% of its employees, the Minister Radu Berceanu said Thursday.

"I prefer less and better-paid staff, and keep those willing to do something here," Berceanu said in a press conference.

The minister did not specify when the employees would be laid off.

The Romanian Government will reduce by 20% the number of positions in the central public administration, representing ministries and government agencies, but the decision does not touch on the employees in the entire public sector, official sources said Thursday.
