Romanian Union Leader Investigated By Anticorruption Prosecutors - Sources

Romanian anticorruption prosecutors are investigating Marius Petcu, leader of union confederation CNSLR-Fratia, one of the country’s major trade unions, people close to the matter said Thursday.

According to the sources, Petcu was caught taking bribes by prosecutors and was brought in for questioning.

On February 16, Romania's Integrity Agency (ANI) said it started checking the wealth of union leaders after a former customs worker accused Sed Lex union leader Vasile Marica of bribe taking.

The agency said check-ups target 15 union leaders, which head the country's major trade unions.
