Romanian Union Leader Petcu To Be Investigated At Large For Corruption

The Bucharest Court of Appeals on Friday ruled that union leader Marius Petcu, who was caught taking bribes, will be investigated at large.

The Court rejected the anticorruption prosecutors' request to have CNSLR-Fratia union confederation leader Petcu placed in custody for 29 days, but forbade him from leaving the country.

Case Prosecutor Claudia Rosu has challenged the ruling - this appeal will be heard by the Supreme Court.

Petcu was detained Thursday night by Anticorruption Department prosecutors, after he was caught taking a EUR40,000 bribe from a businessman.
