Some 7,000 Romanians Involved In Voluntary Repatriations In France

The voluntary repatriation of illegal aliens in France targets 7,000 Romanians and only 275 Chinese people, 200 Algerians and very few Africans, and this measure taken by French authorities does not seem to constitute a short-term alternative to expulsions, French daily La Croix commented.

French immigration minister Brice Hortefeux saluted the development of the voluntary repatriation procedure.

Between January and August, 7,450 foreigners voluntarily returned to their homes (through a EUR2,000 aid received by each adult individual), as opposed to the EUR900 amount offered in 2007.
