The medical director of the hospital, Radu Stan, said Cornea is fine and she is undergoing treatment.
"The state of her health is stationary at the moment and she does not require surgery for the time being. She suffered a stroke and she has an intraparenchymatous hematoma,” Stan said.
According to him, the patient is in the neurology section, in a room with multiple beds, and she will be moved to a special room as soon as her state allows it.
Stan said Cornea was visited by her son and other relatives, the only ones allowed to visit.
Doina Cornea (79) is a member of the Christian Democratic Peasants Party. Her latest public appearance occurred some three weeks ago when she opposed an extraordinary congress of the party, warning of the risk of a party split.
