Romanian president Traian Basescu said Tuesday in Parliament that the Chisinau protesters were allowed to enter the state’s institutions and the destruction that ensued was beneficial for those who allowed it, namely those in power in Moldova.

He added public order in Chisinau is the responsibility of Moldovan authorities.

Basescu stated the protesters were allowed to enter the state buildings and the devastation that ensued was not good for the protesters, nor for the political opposition.

"The destruction only served those who made it possible, those who now hold power," Basescu said.
