Two Bucharest-London Flights Cancelled Over Iceland Volcano Eruption

British Airways cancelled two Bucharest-London and return flights Thursday because of a volcanic eruption in Iceland that has created an ash cloud over Britain and Scandinavia, which greatly affects visibility and could damage plane engines.

British air traffic authorities said British airspace will be closed Thursday starting GMT1100 and until at least GMT1700, because of an ash cloud caused by the eruption of a volcano in Iceland.

Numerous airports in the UK, Norway and Sweden have been closed Thursday morning because of the volcanic eruption.
