Romanian Farmers To Receive RON1.27B State Aid In 2010-2011 - Draft

Romanian farmers will receive subsidies amounting to 1.27 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2923) for the August 2010-December 2011 interval, according to a draft Government decision.

The money will be allotted from the state budget, considering the Agriculture Ministry's budget for 2010 and 2011.

The state aid for farmers in the 2008-2009 interval was of about RON3 billion, according to Agriculture Ministry state secretary Adrian Radulescu.

Radulescu said the sum to be allotted in the 2010-2011 interval is lower, as several subsidies, such as the aid for swine and poultry breeders, have been eliminated because they were not in line with European regulations.

About RON5.8 million will be allotted for animal corpse collection. Insurance premium aid was set at RON42.5 million.

Subsidies for diesel oil used in agriculture were set at RON490 million.
