Romanian Man Diagnosed With AH1N1 Flu Dies

Bistrita Nasaud emergency hospital spokeswoman Gabriela Remes told MEDIAFAX Saturday the man was in bad condition and could not be saved.

She said the man was admitted to hospital on January 21, when he was diagnosed with acute pneumonia. According to Remes, he was also suffering from heart problems and obesity.

The AH1N1 flu diagnosis was later confirmed by the Cantacuzino Institute in Bucharest.

According to data released by the local public health department, six cases of influenza have been registered in the Bistrita Nasaud county this year - two cases of seasonal influenza and four cases of AH1N1 flu.
