Romania Received Humanitarian Aid Request From Georgia

The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry received Monday evening a request for humanitarian aid from the Georgian Embassy, diplomatic sources told MEDIAFAX.

The ministry will decide how to respond on Tuesday. The Georgian Embassy requested drugs and medical instruments.

Georgian authorities requested immediate military assistance from countries and international organizations that are “friends” to Georgia, Georgian attaché to Bucharest, Ioseb Nanobashvili, told a news conference.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry also decided to evacuate all Romanian citizens off Georgian territory and twelve people have already been evacuated, ministry spokesman Cosmin Boiangiu said.

The ministry said there are some 50 Romanian citizens living in Georgia.
