Tariceanu said in a speech in Parliament Wednesday that floods damaged nearly 6,000 homes, which need major repairs and even reconstruction, and over 1,200 kilometers of roads.

"Floods in recent weeks have shown again that Romania’s top priority for the medium and long term is investing in infrastructure, to support the country’s unprecedented economic growth. Floods in recent weeks have shown we will continue to be taken by surprise if we continue the small step policy when it comes to infrastructure,” Tariceanu said.

He added social aid, worth a total 9.5 million lei (EUR1=RON3.5570), already reached 90% of the people in need and all construction materials, worth RON57 million, will be delivered by September 15.
