The bus was heading for the Romanian border with Hungary, heading for Poland and carried students who had attended summer school in Bulgaria. The driver lost control of the wheel in a curve and the bus went off the road, hit a lighting pole and overturned on the fence of a home, police said.
More than half the passengers were injured and nine ambulances were rushed to the scene.
"Twenty-seven passengers were brought in and we’ve committed them. Five of them are seriously injured and suffered fractures, and one underwent surgery for an open leg fracture. They are all outside any danger,” doctor Monica Puticiu, had of the Arad county hospital emergency unit, told MEDIAFAX.
Traffic on the road where the accident occurred was completely halted for about two hours.
Passengers who had suffered no injuries were taken to Arad on another bus and pent the night there.
