Romania’s Football Federation on Wednesday published FIFA’s letter in the case brought before CAS by the former owner of FC Politehnica Timisoara SA, Claudio Zambon.

Under CAS’ decision in the case, FC Timisoara was compelled to change its name “no later than June 30, 2008” to eliminate the risk of confusion with the former name of FC Politehnica Timisoara SA and to change its club colors so that they no longer include violet.

After having analyzed the case, FIFA decided FC Timisoara’s dominant color was still violet and requested the Romanian Football Federation should immediately deduct 6 points from FC Timisoara’s first team.

Failure to implement the point deduction will lead to sanctions against the Romanian Football Federation, FIFA said.

In reply, FC Timisoara said it gave up its violet color in favor of mauve. The club officials said there is a clear difference between the two colors.

The Romanian Football Federation should inform FIFA that all CAS requirements were met, so that the football governing body would reconsider its decision, FC Timisoara said.

FC Timisoara currently rank fifth in Romania’s top league Liga I, with 13 points.
