According to secretary of state within the Ministry of Agriculture Gheorghe Albu, the order renews Romanian legislation based on European Commission regulations for the fruits and vegetables sector.
"The old law contained flaws regarding the quality conditions for the fruits and vegetables,” Albu told MEDIAFAX.
In his turn, the president of the Romconserv employer association, Aurel Tanase, said he has confidence in the application of the new law, which states clearer norms for the fruits and vegetables sector.
According to the order, the State Inspection will compile and maintain a database that would include the individuals and companies participating in commerce with fresh vegetables and fruits, while vendors are obligated to offer the information necessary for this action.
