The Constanta Harbor inspector on duty noticed Tuesday evening colored patches with a powerful scent of fuel near the Russian ship "Nefterudovoz – 29M", according to the head of the Naval Authorities Constanta, Alexandru Mezei.

The Russian ship was loading fuel and already had 2,550 tons of diesel fuel on board when the leak occurred.

Specialists concluded that a valve cup broke and ten liters of diesel fuel leaked in the water, spanning over 20 meters.

The ship’s loading operations were immediately halted, and the employees of Oil Terminal Constanta succeeded in cleaning the entire area in one hour.

Mezei said authorities applied a fine of 8,000 lei (EUR1=RON3.6494) to the commander of the ship "Nefterudovoz – 29M", Russian citizen Evgeny Kalashnikov.
