The operation is part of the reorganization process unfolded for the production of ice cream in southeastern Europe, stated a press release issued by Nestle Romania.
The company will offer compensations to the 76 employees involved in this decision.
In 2005, Nestle took over Greek ice cream producer Delta Ice-Cream, thus the Romanian division of the Greek company became Nestlé Ice-Cream Romania. The purchase also included a production unit near Bucharest.
Nestlé Romania sales grew last year by some 30%, to over RON500 million (some EUR150 million).
Nestle, the largest food company in the world, is present on the Romanian market since 1995. The Swiss group holds a plant in Romanian city Timisoara, producing wafers and coffee specialties.
