Romania Issues Stance On Georgia Situation

The council also decided that the institutions would be prepared for the evacuation of Romanian citizens in Georgia, if the situation demands it.

The presidential administration mentions in a press release that Romania’s foreign policy has held the frozen conflicts in the Caucasus and around the Black Sea as a constant preoccupation.

"Romania calls on all parties involved to show responsibility and cease hostilities immediately, for the creation of negotiation conditions, which would guarantee peace and stability in the region," the document states.

According to the quoted source, Romania joins the efforts of the international community meant to identify a political solution for the crisis in Georgia.
