Romania’s Flood-Damaged Road, Rail Infrastructure Needs RON50M To Repair

Romania’s flood-damaged road and rail infrastructure will require 50 million lei (EUR1=RON3.5171) to repair, transport minister Ludovic Orban said Sunday after the assessment of damages in 75% of affected areas.

The official said that according to the centralized data he received, floods affected 111 kilometers of national roads and 16 bridges.

The minister said roads and bridges would be repaired by Sept 30, for RON37 million.

Rail infrastructure repair works will cost RON13 million, the minister added.

Investments needed to repair flood-affected infrastructure could increase, as damage assessments have so far covered only 75% of all affected infrastructure.
