Romanian Parliament Budget, Finance Committees Approve Justice Min 2011 Budget

The Romanian Parliament’s budget and finance committees on Saturday approved with 24 votes in favor, 22 votes against and one abstention the Justice Ministry’s 2010 budget in the amount of 2,131,449,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2899).

Opposition social democrat lawmaker Viorel Stefan said the ministry’s budget is 14% lower than the sum allotted in 2010.

The committees rejected all the amendments proposed by social democrats and liberals.

Social democrat lawmakers returned to the meeting after they left debates in the committees Saturday morning displeased that the Senate’s budget was reduced to RON86 million, from RON128 million, the sum proposed by the institution.
