Romanian Prosecutor Gen Asks Parliament Ok To Prosecute Ex High Officials In Graft Cases

Nastase is accused of bribery in that, based on a previous agreement with one Ioan Melinescu, he backed and issued an emergency ordinance appointing Melinescu head of the Office preventing money laundering, to get him to close a case against Nastase’s wife, prosecutors said.

The prosecutors general asked the Senate to approve prosecution on senator Serban Mihailescu, accused of bribe taking and breaching arms and ammunition rules.
