Romanian Underworld Head Gunned Down At Poker Game

A man known as underworld head in southern Romanian city of Craiova died in hospital Tuesday morning after he was gunned down by one of his cronies during a poker game.

According to police officers, Ion Parvu, called Caiac, and Catalin Mavriche played poker in a casino in Craiova.

Eyewitnesses said Mavriche supposedly lost EUR50,000 at the poker game and accused Caiac of rigging the game.  

Police officers said the two got into a horrible fight and Caiac supposedly pulled out a sword and cut Mavriche on the face and arms, adding Mavriche, in turn, pulled out a gun and shot Caiac.

The two were rushed to the hospital, but Caiac could not make it and died around 6:30 local time.
