Employment rates among foreigners permanently living in Finland increased 6.6 percentage points between 2000 and 2006, according to the Finnish statistical board, while the corresponding employment rate among Finns increased 2.5 percentage points.
In 2006, 45,000 foreigners were working in Finland, which is 18,000 more than at the turn of the millennium. In relative terms the Aland Islands saw the fewest number of new foreign workers, whereas southern Finland welcomed the most foreign-born workers into the workforce.
Dutch, Romanian, Estonian, Danish and British citizens had the highest employment rates.
