At first, the new labels will only be applied to certain products, and then, by the end of 2009, all products of the mentioned companies will carry similar labels.

"Through these new labels, the Romanian consumer will receive clearer information on the composition of the products. This is a first step towards helping the consumer make an intelligent choice and consume products that they feel are best for their needs," said in a press conference the vice president of the Commission for Environment, Public Health and Food Safety within the European Parliament, Mogor Csibi.

The purpose of the campaign launched by the seven companies is to educate the Romanian consumer on the nutritional contents of the foods, in view of creating a balanced diet.
