The average room rates of Bucharest hotels fell 20.6% on the year in the third quarter, to EUR77.97, on the backdrop of the financial crisis, according to a survey of free online hotel reservation service hotel.info.

Bucharest Hotels' Q3 Avg Room Rate Dn 20% YY - Survey

In the third quarter of 2008, the average room rates of Bucharest hotels were EUR98.22.

Romania's capital city ranks 15th among 20 European cities according to hotel tariffs.

According to the survey, Moscow (EUR149.32), Oslo (EUR132.52) and Copenhagen (EUR127.66) had Europe's most expensive hotel rooms in the third quarter.

Zurich, Amsterdam, Stockholm, London and Helsinki were not far behind. Berlin (EUR82.58), Prague (EUR62.94), Budapest (EUR77.91) and Lisbon (EUR80.18) are revealed as having the best-priced hotels in Europe.

Bucharest ranked 15th, after Vienna, Berlin and Lisbon, according to the survey carried out for the third quarter of 2009.

With an average room rate of EUR151.33 in the third quarter, New York has ousted Moscow from its position as the world's most expensive place to get a room. Oslo, Copenhagen and Zurich (EUR124.67) were also within the top five.

The average room rate was carried out for over 210,000 hotels worldwide, according to hotel.info.
